1. Description
Charlotte Gilman, a feminine, uses the her literary piece to raise awareness about mental illness for women living in a misogynistic society. Her husband, emotionally locks her in her room and the house in hopes of healing Jane’s mental illness, but instead causes Jane more harm. The Yellow Wallpaper, written by Charlotte Gilman, talks about a family who go to a colonial mansion as a “get away” in hopes to cure Jane’s mental illness which is postpartum depression. John, a physician, insisted on using rest therapy to treat Jane.
