Re-imagine the character Candide in our world today. Write an essay outlining his travels and exploits and philosophical changes. Two pages minimum. APA . If that is true, why would some people still remain very much the same after decades? On the other side of the coin, why did some people change so much over the years? The answer,
I think, is not as complicated as we think. My philosophy of change refers to the fundamental concept of one’s internal and external environments, and how they collide to create change. If we are to draw 2 overlapping circles to visualise it, this would probably be how it will be like.Imagine that as the 2 circles overlap, the change within a person will develop within the area of overlap. The larger the overlap, the more one changes. Internal refers to a person’s internal environment – one’s inner temperament,
preferences, choices and so forth. External refers to a person’s external environment – the things that happen around a person on a daily basis, other people that one has encountered and so forth. As one’s external environment undergoes change, visualise the blue (external) circle rolling left towards the red (internal) circle such that it yearns to gain as much overlapping space with it as possible. It is also possible for one’s internal environment to change while the external environment stays constant (such as through mediation), but that will be another topic to explore at another time.
