I’m working on a psychology discussion question and need a sample draft to help me learn.
This week two chapters on acquiring culture and a cultural psychology (or 2): enculturation (getting your “native” or first culture) and acculturation (acquiring another or second culture). Tons to respond to here, and just because I’m giving most time to acculturation that doesn’t mean you can’t groove on kids and parenting.

Who are these people? What is culture? What does it have to do with psychology? Why should I care? How can I join?

To address these questions, several cultural psychologists explained who they are, what they do, how they do it, why it’s important, and what it takes to succeed.

What Is Cultural Psychology?
Cultural psychology is an interdisciplinary field that unites psychologists. The  anthropologists, linguists, and philosophers for a common pursuit.  The study of how cultural meanings, practices, and institutions influence and reflect individual human psychologies. It is not a freestanding area within psychology, and most cultural psychologists would like to keep it that way. Rather than cordoning it off as its own subfield, cultural. The psychologists want to benefit from the breadth of expertise. This is  of its sundry practitioners, and to have a broader impact on all areas within psychology and across the social sciences.
