Leadership is about mapping out where you need to go to “win” as a team or as an organization; and it is dynamic, exciting, and inspiring in nature. Think of a time when you felt powerful and a time when you felt powerless when someone said or did something. A competency model is a set of knowledge, skills, behaviors, or attributes that defines what is needed by a person to be effective in a particular leadership position. Search for a minimum of three scholarly sources on competency models and develop a competency model for a particular leadership position, such as a healthcare organization’s CEO, department director, service line director, etc.
