Principles of Learning PSYC 420 Spring 2021 You will choose a subject (yourself or someone else-with permission and informed consent) and are expected to teach it some skill or modify its behavior in some way using the learning techniques/theories we discuss in class.

Examples include trying to break a habit stop biting your nails, stop leaving dirty clothes on the floor.

Develop a new habit (read your bible more, exercise more, eat more veggies). Or teach a new skill (train a dog/fish/rat/child a new behavior). Methods can include various types of classical conditioning. Reward/punishment schedules in operant conditioning techniques, DRO, extinction, etc. You will be require to research your behavior and find relate studies to support your methods.

Methods should be base upon what is learn in class. Due to the shorten nature of this class, you will only be able to implement your behavior modification protocol for 3-4 days. But you might be surprise how well much of a change in behavior can be seen with proper methods and a willing subject!. Results will be report on what you observe from your implementation of your methods;

You may speculate in your conclusions what long-term outcomes might be if the experiment was continue.

Statistical analysis is not require due to small sample size.
